Alia Bhatt’s Ex-Assistant Vedika Prakash Shetty Arrested for Cheating Her of ₹77 Lakh

In a shocking turn of events, Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt has become the victim of a major fraud—this time from someone who was once part of her trusted circle. Her former personal assistant, Vedika Prakash Shetty, has been arrested by the Juhu Police for allegedly cheating the actress of nearly ₹77 lakh over a period of two years.

Vedika, who worked closely with Alia from 2021 to 2024, was responsible for managing her schedule, handling her personal payments, and managing financial documents—roles that came with a lot of trust and access. But that trust was reportedly broken in a big way.

According to the police, between May 2022 and August 2024, Vedika created fake bills and tricked Alia into signing them. She claimed the money was needed for travel, meetings, and work-related arrangements. These forged documents were well-crafted using professional tools to look real. Once the bills were approved and signed, the money was transferred—not to official accounts—but to a friend of Vedika, who then routed the money back to her.

The fraud came to light after Alia’s mother, actress and director Soni Razdan, filed a complaint with the Juhu Police on January 23 this year. That complaint led to a full investigation. A case was registered under serious charges of criminal breach of trust and cheating.

Police say Vedika was on the run ever since the complaint was filed. She kept moving from city to city—Rajasthan, Karnataka, Pune, and finally Bengaluru—in an attempt to avoid arrest. But after months of tracking, she was finally caught by the Mumbai police in Bengaluru and brought back to the city on transit remand.
