Assam Govt appoints GP Singh as Nodal Officer for movement of stranded people

GUWAHATI: The Assam Government has formed a committee for bringing migrant workers, pilgrims, tourists, students and other persons stranded in different parts of the country amid COVID-19 lockdown. The stranded people will be brought to Assam in a phased manner.

According to a notification issued by the chief secretary of Assam the meeting of the state level empower committee for COVID-19 decided to appoint GP Singh, additional director general of police (Law and order) as the nodal officer for bringing people from other states. On the other hand, ADGP (Security) Harmeet Singh will be the alternate nodal officer.

The committee also decided that the textbook shops will be allowed to remain open from 10 PM to 5 PM on Monday to Saturday.
