Rishi Kapoor passes away, Amitabh Bachchan announces on Twitter

MUMBAI: Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor passed away, announced megastar Amitabh Bachchan on Twitter. Kapoor was hospitalised on Wednesday on the day another versatile actor Irrfan Khan passed away.

“T 3517 – He’s GONE .. ! Rishi Kapoor .. gone .. just passed away ..
I am destroyed !” Bachchan Tweeted.

Kappor died from complications with cancer in H.N. Reliance Hospital. The veteran actor was born on September 4, 1952.  he played leading roles as the romantic lead in 92 films between 1973 and 2000, of which 36 were box office hits. For his performance in Do Dooni Chaar, he won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor in 2011, and for his role in Kapoor & Sons, he won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2017. He was honoured with the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008. He appeared opposite his future wife Neetu Singh in twelve films from 1973 and 1981.
