Last rites of Tarun Gogoi to be performed today

GUWAHATI: The last rites of former Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi will be performed today at the Nabagraha crematorium in Guwahati with full state honours.

The mortal remains of Gogoi are being taken to his official residence at the Ministers’ Colony, Dispur. From there, they will be taken to the Rukminigaon church on the GS Road.

The procession will then take the RG Baruah Road and stop at a naamghar on the way. From there, the mortal remains will be taken to the mosque at Ambari and then via Ugratara Temple brought to Nabagraha.

All the arrangements have been made at the Nabagraha crematorium for the cremation of the veteran leader.

Special traffic regulations and restrictions will be imposed on some roads for a few hours during the daytime to ensure that the event passes off smoothly.
