No surprise if BJP wins more than 22 seats in BTC: Himanta Biswa Sarma

GUWAHATI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will form the council in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), stated senior BJP leader and Assam cabinet minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Releasing the BJP manifesto on Friday, Dr. Sarma confirmed that BJP will win more than 22 seats of the 27 contesting to bring in the much needed change in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

Replying to the media Dr. Sarma said jovially, “It’s done and we are inviting you for the oath taking ceremony. We are winning 22 seats and there should be no surprise if we win 27 seats.”

Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma charged BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary of misrule and corruption at all levels of the council. “In 2019-20 under SOPD we gave Rs. 671 crore, from Assam State Finance Commission we gave Rs. 140 crore, plus Rs. 300 crore as special package, adding to it is the Central Government’s Rs.2072 crore under various sectors of central schemes. So the amount of money provided to BTC is humongous. Where has all this money gone as there is no development in BTC?” questioned Dr. Sarma.
