“Correct your wrongdoings”: China tells India after it protests later’s ban on Chinese apps

Beijing/New Delhi: China on Tuesday protested against India’s decision to ban a plethora of Chinese apps and warned that India should “correct its wrongdoing”. China said the ban was a “deliberate interference” and it will take “all necessary measures” to protect the interest of Chinese businesses.

This comes in the wake of India’s decision to ban certain apps that belong to Chinese companies and were allegedly involved in activities detrimental to India’s national interest.

In the latest move, India has banned 47 more apps operation as clones of the 59 Chinese apps, including TikTok, that were banned last month. In all, over 250 Chinese apps are being monitored by the government, and each that poses a threat is being picked and thrown out.

Spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy, Counselor Ji Rong in a statement said the matter of “WeChat” app being banned has been taken up with the Indian side.

“We have notice the relevant reports. On June 29, the Indian government banned 59 mobile apps with Chinese background  including WeChat, which severely damaged the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies. The Chinese side has lodged solemn representation to the Indian side and asked the Indian side to correct its wrongdoings,” she said,

The list of the 47 applications banned by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology is yet to be released.
