Rules to be followed during inter-district travel starting from today in Assam

Guwahati: People stranded in different districts of Assam are being allowed for inter-district movement for two days that is July 30-31 ahead of the Eid-Ul-Azha which will be observed on August 1.

The state government of Assam is giving an opportunity for the people stranded due to the lockdown, to visit their homes ahead of the festival.

Assam State Jamiat Ulama, one of the largest social-religious organizations representing the Muslim community comprising over 10 lakh members, had made a representation to DGP Jyoti Mahanta and chief secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna, urging the state government to lift the restrictions on inter-district travel for Eid-Ul-Azha, a festival of sacrifice.

The state government has laid down certain guidelines to be followed by travelers. “Inter-district movement of citizens is allowed on 30and 31st July, 2020, in the state of Assam subject to the strict compliance of Covid-19 regulations as detailed in the various guidelines of Government of Assam,” said Kumar Sanjay Krishna. He however stressed that the permission for travelling is not allowed in containment zones.

As per the guidelines, travelers will be screened before they begin their travel and not more than 50 passengers will be allowed to sit in the bus.
