207 containment zones in Guwahati, lockdown likely

After the Kamrup (M) District Administration imposed lockdown in 11 wards of the city, the government is now mulling a complete lockdown of the entire city.

Highly placed sources in the government have indicated that it is considering a complete lockdown of the city given the rising number of cases and the people’s apathy towards observing Covid-19 protocols of maintaining social distance and avoiding gatherings.

A decision on the same will be announced at 12 pm today afternoon by the state government. The current complete confinement in the 11 wards of the city was done because of excessive gathering at the commercial hubs of the city by people throwing caution to the winds.
