Assam Covid tally surges to 7492 with 327 new covid-19 cases reported in the last 24 hours

With 327 new Covid-19 cases being reported in the last 24 hours, Assam’s virus tally has increased to 7,492. Out of the new cases, 195 cases have been reported alone from Guwahati city.

One Covid-19 patient died at a government-run hospital in Guwahati on Friday, taking the death toll to 11.

Assam Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the report saying the state has registered 327 fresh Covid-19 positive cases in last 24 hours and with the new cases the state tally has now increased to 7,492.

“327 new #COVID19+ cases detected in Assam today. Out of these, 195 cases were reported in Guwahati City in last 24 hours. Total cases 7492, Recovered 5088, Active cases 2390, Deaths 11,” he said in a tweet.

As many as 44 police personnel including a Superintendent of Police (SP) level officer have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the state. Additional Director of Police (ADGP) GP Singh said 1,127 police personnel are under quarantine in the state.

The state now has 2,390 active cases of Covid-19. Assam has so far tested 3,85,299 Covid-19 samples at 12 laboratories across the state.
