Guwahati: Weekend lockdown violated at Lokhra

GUWAHATI: Despite the on-going weekend lockdown to contain COVID-19 pandemic, violations of the government norms have been reported in the Lokhra area of Guwahati. Paying no heed to COVID-19 precautions, a large number of buyers and traders gathered at a market on National Highway (NH) 37 at Lokhra on Sunday morning.

The buyers and sellers that gathered in the market did not only violate social distancing norms, but most of them were also seen without wearing a mask. According to reports, the same has been repeating every week during the weekend lockdown.

Though, the market is located near the Garchuk Police Station, allegations of inaction have been raised against the local police.
