Assam COVID-19 updates: 2,640 new cases, 33 fresh fatalities

GUWAHATI: The addition of 2,640 new cases took Assam’s COVID-19 tally to 4,99,121 on Friday. The death toll rose to  4,403 with 33 fresh fatalities.

Golaghat district recorded the highest number of fresh cases at 266, followed by Sonitpur(237) and Jorhat(175), a health bulletin said.

The state now has 27,565 active cases, while 4,65,806 people have recovered from the disease this far.

The recovery rate among the coronavirus patients in the state stands at 93.33 per cent, while the mortality rate is at 0.88 per cent.

A total of 1,347 coronavirus patients have died due to other causes to date.
