Former Assam DGP Kuladhar Saikia opposes CAA

Guwahati: Former Assam DGP Kuladhar Saikia who on Thursday was elected as the President Asom Sahitya Sabha, said he strongly opposes Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA).

Saikia was interacting with journalists on Friday in Guwahati, where he expressed his apprehensions regarding CAA. “I oppose CAA. I have seen the protests against the Act. The message is loud and clear,” he reiterated.

The apex literary body of Assam launched a number of protests against CAA after protests against it gained momentum in Assam.

Saikia is well known for his lucid writing as well as astute policeman who has juggled his duties and hobbies with equal fervor. The former DGP was also awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2015 for his book “Akakhor Sobi Aaru Anyanya Galpa”.
