Big dam: 3 leaders of AJYP detained

Three leaders of Lakhimpur unit Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuba Parishad (AJYP) have been detained by the police on Thursday night for their protest against the construction of the big dam.

The detainees included Lakhimpur AJYP president Lulu Boruah, Secretary Sudipta Hazarika and another member of the organisation.

They have staged a massive protest against the construction of the big dam in Lakhimpur on Thursday. They also launched a blocked programme against NHPC.

According to reports, the leaders were detained from the camp, which was installed by the organisation to observe NHPC’s construction work in the Lower Subansiri Hydro-Electric Project site.
