CAB: Amit Shah to meet NE CMs

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will chair a meeting with the chief ministers of North Eastern State regarding the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) in New Delhi on November 30.

The discussion will be significant as the next Union Cabinet meeting to be held on December 4 is likely to pass the contentious bill.

It may be mentioned here that earlier, the CMs of Meghalaya, Nagaland and Mizoram had voiced their opposition to the CAB before Amit Shah during the NEDA conclave in Guwahati in September. They had claimed that the CAB will change the demography and adversely affect the socio-cultural fabric of the North Eastern region.

Also, people are carrying out massive protests in Assam and other parts of North East against the proposed CAB.
