Lockdown: Police fire in air on being attacked by mob in Bongaigaon

GUWAHATI: Bongaigaon Police had to blank fire today morning to quell an unruly mob at Bhawlaguri market near New Bongaigaon Railway Junction to enforce lockdown . According to reports, people in large number gathered at the meat and poultry shops defying lockdown showing utmost carelessness to Coronavirus concerns.

When a team of Assam Police arrived on the spot to ward off the crowd, the unruly mob pelted stones on the police team. Following that police had to resort to fire in the air to disperse the violent mob.

Meanwhile, another team of police arrived in the market and cordoned off the entire area to nab the culprits.

On Friday, in another incident of lockdown violation, police came under attack at Folimari Budhbari market under Chapar Police Station in Dhubri district.
