MGVK Bhanu quits Congress, cites personal reasons behind decision
Guwahati: MGVK Bhanu, former IAS officer and Congress candidate from Tezpur constituency in the last Lok Sabha polls has quit the party on Tuesday. Bhanu had lost to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Pallab Lochan Das in the Lok Sabha polls.

Despite repeated attempts, Bhanu could not be contacted over the phone. However, a media report quoted Bhanu as saying, “I have nothing against the Congress party but resigned due to personal reason.”
Bhanu has a special relation with Tezpur as he has accomplished many developmental works in the area during his posting there.

During the last Lok Sabha polls, MGVK Bhanu was appointed as the election-in charge of Jalukbari Assembly constituency, which is represented by Assam finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. But in the last by-polls he was not seen in Congress campaigns.
