Two dead as speeding truck runs over Kali puja procession in Silchar

In a sensational incident, a truck ran over a Kali Puja immersion procession at Meherpur area in Silchar on Wednesday night. According to reports, two people have died on the spot, and several others were admitted to the hospital in critical condition.

The drunken driver of the truck was coming from Aizwal. “It was a blood bath as there were people including kids lying unconscious over the road,” said a local.

The angry locals set the truck ablaze and blocked the road. It was suspected that the truck had run over some vehicles somewhere near the Sonai area and was speeding to run away.
