Padma Shri Awards 2022: Notable six Northeast personalities to receive the honour

Digital Desk: According to the press notice of the Ministry of Home Affairs, six preeminent personalities from the Northeast will get Padma Shri Award this year. 

This announcement was made on the eve of the 73rd Republic Day of India on Tuesday. 

As per information, Shakuntala Choudhury and Dhaneswar Engti from Assam, Lourembam Bino Devi and Muktamani Devi from Manipur, T Senka Ao from Nagaland and Khandu Wangchuk Bhutia from Sikkim will get the award.

Shakuntala Choudhury from Assam will be receiving this honour for his contribution to society. He has been chosen for his social work. Moreover, T Senka Ao, Bino Devi and Bhutia have been chosen for their contribution to the domain of Art.

Additionally, Dhaneswar Engti from Assam will earn the honour for his contribution to literature, and Muktamani Devi has been selected for her contribution to the business.

Moreover, India’s first chief of defence staff (CDS), the late General Bipin Rawat, was granted the Padma Vibhushan, while Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra was among Padma Shri recipients.

Padma Shri Award stands out as one of the nation’s highest civilian awards. The awards are offered in three categories- Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.
