Dispur SI detained

A Sub-Inspector of Dispur Police has been detained by the sleuths of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption branch of Assam police on Thursday night. The SI has been identified as Rohin Pegu.

The team of Anti-Corruption branch launched an operation at Dispur PS to detain Pegu in connection with an extortion case. He allegedly demanded Rs. 50,000 from an SBI official.

It may be mentioned here that earlier, three officials of Dispur police, including two SIs were arrested for allegedly looting Rs. 20 lakh from a woman from Mizoram.

Meanwhile, the Pegu has been interrogated by the Anti-Corruption branch team.
