Social activist, journalist & publisher GL Agarwalla passes away

Eminent social activist, journalist, publisher and media patron GL Agarwalla passed away today (Jan 31). Agarwala, proprietor of GL Publications, passed away after prolonged illness at 4:23 pm today. He was 79.

GL Agarwala was one of the pioneers in the field of journalism and the publishing industru and the mass-circulated newspaper ‘Amar Asom’ along with the ‘Purvanchal Prahari’ and ‘Meghalaya Guardian’ were published under the banner of GL Publications.

He was also closely associated with the Asom Sahitya Sabha.

Chief Minister Sarbannada Sonowal, other political leaders, AASU leadership and other social entrepreneurs condoled Agarwalla’s demise.
