Rahul Gandhi to also contest from Kerala’s Wayanad

It’s official. Congress president Rahul Gandhi will contest from a second seat besides the family stronghold constituency of Amethi in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Rahul Gandhi, as speculated, will contest from Wayanad, senior party leader and former union Defence Minister AK Anthony said today.

Meanwhile, the BJP has attacked the Congress over the decision with union minister Smriti Irani, who will be contesting against the Congress president from Amethi for the second time, tweeted that the constituency “drove him away”.

Incidentally, while Wayanad will vote on April 23, Amethi will go to polls on May 6 with counting of votes to be held in all constituencies on May 23.
